All cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti. Succulents are defined by their moisture-storing capacity
allowing them to survive in arid climates by retaining water in their stems and leaves.
Cacti and succulents love bright light. Indoors, a south or west-facing window is best. Because these plants like sun, they can be gradually moved outdoors in summer so the plant gets accustomed to more light.
Allow soil to dry thoroughly between waterings. In general, succulents require a bit more water than cacti. Over-watering in winter is the most common reason for plant failure because the plant is resting at this time. Ensure all excess water is removed immediately.
For optimum plant health, fertilize with an all-purpose houseplant food from April through October, following label directions. For all other months, fertilize half as often.
