Chinese Evergreen
Grown for its highly ornamental foliage, which may be green to dark green, variegated silver or gray depending on variety. In the home, plant diseases are very rarely a problem. Too much or too little water are the main problems. Root rot usually results from a soil mix that does not drain quickly or from overly frequent watering. Remove flowers to prevent production of unattractive berries.
Light
Excellent plant for low light areas. North or east facing window or artificial light is perfect.
Water
Reduce watering to match the environment; allow the top 3-4″ of soil to dry down between watering. Never allow this plant to sit in water.
Fertilizer
For optimum plant health, fertilize with an all-purpose houseplant food April through October, following label directions. For all other months, fertilize half as often.
