Palm, Cataractarum (Cat)
The Cat Palm, also known as the Cascade or Cataract Palm is easy to care for with its arching, airy fronds. Perfect in large containers for softening corners, defining entryways or diving living areas. Indoors the plant grows slowly, eventually reaching a height of 4′-6′ tall. This is a very attractive plant that produces glossy, dark green leaves on thin shoots.
Light
Cataractarum Palms prefer bright, indirect light.
Water
Prefers moist but well-drained soil. Check the soil moisture with your finger. If the top 2″-3″ of soil is dry, or plants are wilted, it is time to water. Apply water at the soil level if possible to avoid wetting the foliage. Water the entire soil area until until water runs out the base of the pot.
Fertilizer
For optimum plant health, fertilize with an all-purpose houseplant food April through October, following label directions. For all other months, fertilize half as often.
