ZZ Plant (Zamioculcas)
The most attractive thing about Zamioculcas may not be its toughness, low light ability or low water requirements, but the fact that it seems to have no insect problems, or at least none that anyone has been able to identify to date! Eliminating pest control makes caring for this plant very easy.
Light shade to shade. Prefers semi-shade but can take very low light levels. It also performs well in bright light, but will require more frequent watering.
Easy to look after, it prefers to be too dry rather than too wet, so water sparingly. A sign of overwatering is if the lower leaves turn yellow. The stalks hold water, so don‘t keep the soil wet. If over-watered or allowed to sit in water you may find yellowing leaves.
For optimum plant health, fertilize with an all-purpose houseplant food April through October, following label directions. For all other months, fertilize half as often.
